Christmas Party Update

The Board of Directors of the BMW Club of Northern California would like to invite you to something different for this year’s Christmas party….dinner on the Bay.

The dinner will be held December 2nd in Redwood City at the Waterfront Restaurant at Pete’s Harbor. We start with a cash bar at 6:30 followed by dinner starting at 7ish.

We will have 3 dinner choices:
Chicken - Marsala
Fish – salmon
Beef - filet mignon
And a vegetarian meal if so desired.

I need an RSVP by November 27th with your meal selection and if you’re bringing a guest. We have opened up the invitation to former members who would like to attend and meet and greet old friends. The price for admission for current club members and their significant other is a gift suitable for the gift exchange that costs no more than $15. For former members, we are asking for $20 for your significant other only to help cover the dinner cost …but still bring a gift if you’d like to take part in the gift exchange.

We also plan on having a talk about the upcoming New Zealand trip next spring for those interested.

So mark your calendar and email us with your plans. We all look forward to seeing everyone there…see what members look like without the motorcycle gear and helmet hair. We might even have a mystery guest speaker…you never know.

Sincerely,
Greg Hutchinson
President, BMW Club of Northern California

November 18th Meeting & Camp Out

El Capitan State Park - Saturday November 18, 2006 4:00 P.M.

October’s meeting was a lot of fun. Thanks to all of the members, guests, and first timers who came out for the Samoa Cookhouse dinner. The energetic group made for a great meeting and the home style cooking was excellent. The camping was equally good as the comforting sound of crashing surf and sea lions kept us company through the night. Bob Dodd was the winner of the raffle, going home with a “Burnout” t-shirt featuring German writing and retro style motorcycle graphics. Bring an extra dollar to the next campout for this month’s drawing.

The November tour will leave from Denny’s restaurant 8425 San Ysidro Ave, Gilroy ,CA 95020 at 8:00 a.m. sharp. Please arrive with a full tank of gas. After breakfast we will briefly head down 101south to route 25 south. Please check the club website for the most up to date route information. Weather outlook will impact the length of time we spend in the twisties.

El Capitan State beach is located on the coast just north of Santa Barbara. The club has reserved both Friday and Saturday nights 17th & 18th. The group campsite is “Portola” #s 115 – 123. If you can take a long weekend and the weather outlook is good I encourage you to take advantage of the campsite for both nights. Due to the shorter number of daylight hours the meeting will be at 4:00 p.m. at the campsite. Bring along some warm clothes and some good camp food and drink for this month’s camping. November weather can be hard to predict.

As always, new riders and non-club members are very welcome to join us on our tours and at our meetings. You can e-mail Warren at tourcaptain@bmwnorcal.org with any questions.

We will start the ride with a brief meeting to go over the route and general safety rules. I will distribute written directions to all of the riders. Please be on time if you plan to ride with the tour, and everyone is strongly encouraged to ride within your limits.
