Death Valley Update- Warren's Sidecar Ride
Note from Warren:
Sarah and I are taking a sidecar rig down to death valley so we are doing a fairly direct route at a very very relaxed (slow) pace. Probabaly annoyingly slow for anybody on two wheels alone. I'm still learning sidecar handling characteristics and don't want any pressure from other riders to quicken the pace so its probably best if Sarah and I make the trip solo. However if anyone still wants to join us for some reason fully knowing that the pace will be at that of a snaill (new riders?). You can check out the route below which I have planned. Also you will be welcome to join us at Lake Isabella for camping. Though I don't know which camp we will be at right now. There are several around the lake that are open year round, some free of charge, some at a nominal fee. I want to select a good spot when we get up there friday evening.
We plan to leave redwood city at about 9:00 a.m. following the bulk of the morning rush hour stuff. Our route will be as follows, subject to changes:
101 south to Gilroy
25 south
198 east
33 south
46 east
famoso woody road
granite road
155 east
camp at lake isabella
Saturday:
178 east
trona wildrose road
190 to furnace creek
Sarah has never been to DV before and is really looking forward to the comfort of the sidecar for such a long trip.
