We need a head count for campsites and dinner. Here's Dave's request:
The August 29th club ride will be leaving the Pleasanton Denny's and riding to the Pomo Campgrounds in Fort Bragg. This weekend is the week before the ROL and it is difficult to judge attendence for planning purposes.
The Pomo campground is a private campground and does not have a group camp site.
Please let Dave know if you plan on attending and need a camp site so that I can make the appropriate number of reservations.
Similarly, the club meeting will be held at the North Coast Brewing Company in Fort Bragg at 5:00pm on August 29th. I need a head count of who will be attending the club meeting so I can make the appropriate number of dinner reservations. They can't do individual checks so bring cash to settle your part of the bill and expect to pay a 15% gratuity.
Please email or call Dave Halliwell at 510-304-2507 and let him know if you will be attending the club meeting and need a camp site. Those who register in advance will get priority for camp sites and food.

The July meeting will be held at the Shelter Cove RV Campground & Deli on Sat. July 25th at 5:00 PM.
To get to Shelter Cove take 101 and exit at Redway (about 5 miles north of Garberbville). Go west on Briceland Rd. for about 25 miles until you get to Shelter Cove. At the T intersection, make a left and follow around toward the water. You will see the campground.
There club has reserved 2 sites for Friday night; sites 102 & 103. For Sat. night we have reserved sites 99 through 103. A bbq dinner (put on by the campground) will be available on Sat. night at a cost of $15.00.
Please RSVP to rjlnes@gmail.com by July 20 for dinner count. Your RSVP will not be a commitment on your part, rather its for planning purposes for the campground operator and to be sure we have enough campsites. You will pay them directly when getting dinner. We just have to give them an estimate of the number of people for their planning. Drinks of all sorts are available for purchase at the store.
The tour will leave from Lundy’s Home Cooking; 1143 4th St. San Rafael at 8:00 AM. To find Lundy’s get off 101 at the Central San Rafael exit and head west. If you plan to have breakfast at Lundy’s be sure to leave enough time. Please have a full tank of gas. Tour Captain Bob Love.

Tour Captain Bob has the following updates:
1. Road conditions - CA 299 between Redding and Douglas City has paving and road construction work. CA 3 between Douglas City and Hayfork paving work. Both are subject to delays. CA 3 between Hayfork and CA 36 no problems. CA 36 between CA 3 and US 101 no problems. I was told that there is no road work currently on CA 36 between Red Bluff and CA 3, but, did not confirm personally.
2. Gas - the only gas station in town opens 8:00 AM on Sunday. You may be able to get gas when the station is closed using a credit card. Strongly suggest if you need gas, get it when you arrive on Sat.
3. Food - There will be coffee and a muffin or roll available on Sunday morning starting at 6:30 AM. Payment for this is via donation. There are two stores in town that sell food but they don't open until 9:00 AM at the earliest on Sunday. They are open until 8:00PM on Sat. Irene's Cafe opens at 7:00 AM on Sunday I was told.

The BMW Club of Northern California will hold its election meeting on Saturday, June 27th at the Trinity County Fairgrounds in Hayfork. To get to the fairgrounds go north on either 101 or I 5 to CA 36. Take 36 to the junction of CA 3 and go north to Hayfork. The fairground entry is on the right. The meeting will start at 5:00 PM.
Dinner will be available after the meeting. The cost for dinner is $15.00. There will (hopefully) be a choice between BBQ beef and vegetarian lasagna. The lasagna will be available if I get at least 10 people that request it. Beer and wine will be available for a modest donation. Coffee will be available Sun. morning 6:30-8:00 AM.
Please RSVP via email to rjlnes@gmail.com regarding your choice for dinner not later than 18 June as I have to inform the people at the fairgrounds of the numbers for dinner.
In your email please be sure to provide your name, choice, number of people, and phone number. Be sure to use “election meeting” as the subject of your email. I will collect for the dinner at the meeting. Your email is a commitment to the club for the price of the dinner. If you don’t make it to the meeting, I will certainly try to “sell” your dinner. If I can fine, if not you will owe the club the price of the number of dinners requested.
Camping at the fairgrounds is available both Friday. and Saturday.
nights. The tour will leave at 7:30 AM
from the Valley Cafe. The Valley Cafe is
located on Suisun Valley Rd.
The tour will be approximately 350 miles. Please be sure to have a full tank of gas. We will have lunch in the general area of Red
Bluff or Redding
Non members and first time tourers are encouraged to join us at the Valley Cafe. It will hopefully be a great ride. Check the website or contact me for any last minute updates.

The April Meeting will be at Sly Park in Pollock Pines April 25th at 5:00pm. The ride will be leaving from the Pleasanton Denny’s, 6455 Owens Drive at 9:00 am. Please arrive with a full tank of gas so we can leave promptly at 9:00. The destination is Sly Park, group camp site #1, 4771 Sly Park Road.
Google route maps will be available at the start of the ride and there will be no pre-ride. First timers should check in with Dave Halliwell, the ride leader. The group rides a staggered formation on the freeways and in the straight stretches. In the twisty’s we usually ride single file.
If the group is going to slow for you, pass on the outside and feel free to leave the group and ride your own ride. When riding with the group it is always safety first. If the person in front of you starts drifting while reading his map or GPS, back off, and ride single file. Only resume a staggered ride when the rider has settled down. Keep a safe distance between yourself and the person in front of you. There is a natural selection order that happens on the group rides. Faster riders move to the front and slower riders migrate to the rear. We are not in a race and remember it is the ride not the destination. With the recent rains we may still see some wildflowers on this ride. If we see a nice view of wildflowers with a safe spot we will take a kodak moment.
We have not made arrangements for dinner but there are several nice places to eat and stay in Pollock Pines. For dinner I plan on trying The Haven Restaurant, 6396 Pony Express Trail, Pollock Pines (530-644-3448), if they are open. It has some nice reviews on the web. I give my thanks to Tom Harris for making the camping arrangements this month. This looks like a great site with a nice lake. Camping fees will be $5.

The March meeting will be held at Bothe-Napa Valley State Park located at 3801 Saint Helena Hwy, Calistoga, Ca at 5:00pm on March 28th. The group ride will start from Denny's, 250 Fairgrounds Drive, Vallejo at 9:00 am and will be lead by Dave.
The planned ride will be from Denny's up to Lakeport via Suisan Valley Road and through Middletown. Lunch will be planned for Lakeport, location TBD. After lunch we will head for Ukiah along HW20 and then up to Booneville on 128. From Booneville, we will meander back down 128 to Calistoga and Bothe-Napa Valley State Park. The ride looks like it will be 224 miles and should take 6 1/2 hours. Google maps will be provided at the beginning of the ride.
Camping fees will be $5 payable to the ride leader or club treasurer. Please contact Dave if you want the site reserved for Friday night.
If we get bad or inclement weather the ride may be cut short. Either way the club meeting will occur at Bothe Napa Valley campground at 5:00pm.
There are many dinner locations available in Calistoga. For the budget minded Buster's BBQ is north of the campground at the stop light in Calistoga. Heading south from the campground there is a nice looking brew pub about 3 miles down the road. I'm 99.999%sure this is where Richard and Dave will be dining.
As always, ride safely and ride within your skill set. Please gas up before breakfast, as we will hit the road at 9:00am. The club rides staggered formation on the freeways and then single file through the twisties. Always pass on the outside and don't worry about keeping up with the group. We will re-group at each major turn. New riders need to check in with the group leader at the start of the ride.
